If you’re just starting out as a new real estate agent, I’m sure you’re feeling all of the emotions from excitement to feeling totally overwhelmed! I remember when I started my career in real estate thinking there was SO much to learn, and I was right. It’s easy to feel unsure where to start and how to really get your business moving (see my post on the advice I’d give a new agent here) and while there are many, many tips I could give you, today we’re focusing on social media.
We all know what an indispensable tool social media is for professionals in various industries, and that includes real estate. For new agents who are trying to establish their presence and attract potential clients, social media can be a total game-changer. There are many ways to leverage social media to your advantage, but I’m going over the 3 you need to know as a beginner agent.
Build Your Brand and Establish Credibility
Don’t just think of your social media page as a place to post photos, but as a place to create your own personal brand. Showcase what makes you stand out, whether it’s your love for mid-century modern homes or your knack for negotiation. Create and share valuable content such as market updates, home-buying tips, or neighborhood profiles. By consistently providing value and showing your potential as an agent, you’ll start to establish yourself as a trusted authority in your area, and someone who people want to work with.
Engage, Engage, Engage
While creating your own brand and putting energy into your social media page is essential, doing this without engaging with others isn’t going to get you anywhere. Think of it like your personal social media page- you’re not logging on, posting your photo, and closing the app. You’re commenting on your friend’s Instagram posts, you’re messaging them funny videos, you’re reacting to their stories. We go on social media to get social, so it’s time to engage with your audience!
Take the time to interact with your followers by responding to comments, answering questions, and participating in discussions related to real estate. In today’s digital world, you never know who you might connect with that can propel you forward, or you might even meet a potential client via socials. Initiate conversations, show genuine interest in the people you’re communicating with and I promise you, it will benefit you.
Collaboration is Key
You know what they say, teamwork makes the dream work. So why not team up with local businesses and influencers to amplify your reach? Partner with a trendy cafe to host a coffee chat TikTok series about first-time home buying, or collaborate with a home decor store for a virtual styling session. Don’t be afraid to slide into the DMs of local influencers either. Offer to co-host an Instagram Live or guest post on their blog. It’s a win-win – you get exposure to their audience, and they get valuable and engaging content.
Try out these 3 things and see where it takes you. Social media holds power! Stay authentic, consistently provide value to others, and remember to nurture relationships with your audience. You got this.
