If there’s one thing I’ve learned in real estate, it’s that stress doesn’t wait for a convenient moment to show up. It creeps in during back-to-back meetings, when deadlines pile up, or even in the middle of dinner when you think you’re done for the day, and your phone buzzes with something “urgent.” We’ve allllll been there.
As we know, (unfortunately) stress is part of life, no matter what career you’re in. Over time, I’ve found a few simple tricks that help me keep my cool—and they can work for anyone juggling a busy schedule. Let’s dive into my go-to stress relievers that are simple and things you’ll actually want to do!
1. Take Mini Breaks
When you’re running from task to task, it feels basically impossible to step away. But giving your brain a quick reset is actually pretty powerful. Between client calls, I’ll take two minutes to walk outside, stretch, or just step away from my screen. It’s like hitting the refresh button on your mind—you come back clearer and calmer.
2. Keep Your To-Do List Short and Realistic
I used to write down everything I wanted to do in a day. Spoiler: I ended most days feeling like I was behind. Now I stick to my top three non-negotiables. Accomplish those first, and anything else is a bonus. This small mindset shift keeps me from spiraling into “I’ll never catch up” mode.
3. Move Your Body
Nothing kills stress like physical movement. I’m not talking about a full workout if you don’t have the time—I mean a quick walk around the block, a 10-minute abs class on YouTube, or even dancing around your kitchen to your favorite playlist. Movement signals to your body that you’re not in danger, which helps shut down that frazzled, fight-or-flight feeling.
4. Protect Your “Off” Time
This one can be so tough, but it’s a game-changer. In real estate, calls and emails can come at any hour. I’ve learned to set clear boundaries—like putting my phone in the other room during dinner. Even an hour of real “off” time helps me recharge and come back sharper.
Stress is going to come up—we can’t avoid it—but how we handle it makes all the difference. Think of these tips as small resets you can pull out anytime life gets hectic, trust me, your future (hopefully calmer) self will thank you!
